Privacy

Last updated: 7 November 2026

At Charcoal Pork we only ask for the information we need to prepare and deliver your order. This policy explains what we keep, why, and what you can do about it. We follow the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).

1.What we collect

When you place an order we keep:

  • your name, phone number and email;
  • your address, suburb and postcode, if you choose home delivery;
  • the date, time slot, items and total of the order;
  • the payment method and whether it has been paid;
  • any notes you write. If you mention an allergy or health condition, that is sensitive information: we only use it to prepare your order safely.

We don't store card or bank account details. When you pay by PayID the transfer happens in your bank; we only see the name and reference on our statement.

2.How we use it

  • To prepare your order and deliver it, or have it ready for pickup.
  • To contact you about your order (confirmation, payment, changes, delays) via WhatsApp, phone or email.
  • To keep the accounting and tax records required by law.
  • To understand how the business is going, using statistics that don't identify you.

3.Marketing

We don't sell or rent your data. We won't send you marketing unless you ask us to, and you can opt out at any time.

4.Who we share it with

Only with those who need it to handle your order:

  • Our team and the person delivering your order (name, phone and address).
  • The technology providers that run the website: hosting, the database (Supabase) and the messaging service we use to alert the team to each new order (Telegram).
  • WhatsApp or the email provider, when we message each other.
  • Authorities, only when the law requires it.

Some of these providers may store data on servers outside Australia, for example in the United States. We choose reputable providers and take reasonable steps to make sure they protect your data.

5.Cookies and browser storage

  • Your cart is saved in your own browser (local storage) so it isn't lost when you reload.
  • A cookie remembers your chosen language.
  • We don't use advertising or tracking cookies.

6.Security and how long we keep it

Access to orders is password-protected and limited to our team. We keep order records for as long as we need them, generally 5 years for tax purposes. After that we delete or anonymise them.

7.Your rights

You can ask for a copy of your data, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it once we no longer have to keep it. Contact us using the details below and we'll reply within 30 days.

8.Complaints

If you think we haven't handled your data properly, please contact us first so we can fix it. If you're not satisfied, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC). To learn how orders work, read our terms and refund policy.
